Leonid Kritz
Co-Founder
Former top-100 player and Junior World Champion. 12+ years coaching young players.

Overview

Grandmaster Leonid Kritz is one of the most accomplished chess educators working in the United States today. His path from Junior World Champion to the top 100 of the world rankings is a story of exceptional talent matched with relentless discipline — and it is precisely that combination he now brings to every student at Four Knights Chess Academy.

"Chess is not just a game. It's a language for teaching children how to see the world clearly and act in it wisely."

— GM Leonid Kritz

Background

Leonid's competitive credentials are extraordinary. As a young player, he captured the Junior World Championship — the ultimate prize in youth chess — before going on to reach the top 100 players in the world. He represented his country as an Olympic National Player, competing on the grandest international stage that chess has to offer.

But it is as an educator that Leonid has found his most meaningful work. Over more than 12 years of teaching, he has developed a distinctive coaching methodology that bridges world-class competitive knowledge with the needs of young learners. His lessons are rigorous without being intimidating, structured without being rote.

His Mission

At Four Knights, Leonid co-designed the academy's four-pillar curriculum alongside GM Eugene Perelshteyn. The result is a program that develops visualization, analytical questioning, and deep chess knowledge — the same skills that Leonid honed on his own path to the top of the world game.
